Et Al Designs, founded in 1994, is the creative vision of Alina Bednarz. The name Et Al is derived from the Latin phrase meaning "and others". Ms. Bednarz's intention was to bring her Polish heritage to the United States, essentially including all aspects of her life in her new company, the design and creation of unique and decorative beeswax candles and candleholders in her native Poland.

After a successful career in high fashion, spanning two decades, Alina decided to strike out on her own. She wanted to bring her eye for high fashion to a craft industry popular in her native Poland.

By working with local artisans, she learned to appreciate the art and beauty of the centuries old tradition of hand rolled candle making. Using time-honored methods, Alina designed distinctive candles with inlaid semi-precious stones, grains, cutouts and appliques that captured the American imagination for new, innovative styles.

The success of her Polish candle collection and a fascination with Eastern philosophy and culture inspired Alina to look to Asia and expand the diversity of her line. She now uses the same designs standards in Asia, Thailand and India as she did in Poland. Using unusual materials, innovative sculpting techniques, the finest quality beeswax and the most creative artisans, allows Alina to maintain her goal of designing candles and accessories that bring beauty, creativity and harmony to any environment.
